Gordon Ryan points to Khabib Nurmagomedov while justifying his steroid use
Gordon Ryan has shared a detailed explanation of his decision to use performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) while competing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) tournaments.
BJJ does not regularly employ drug testing for its competitions, which has inadvertently promoted the use of PEDs among even the best athletes in the sport, like 'The King'.
After receiving criticism for his use of PEDs, Ryan has come out with a statement of his own in a video posted to his YouTube channel.
He said:
"Let's talk about steroids and PEDs and how bad everything is and how it's cheating... Why I started taking steroids, which I've been open about for years. Number one, because they were legal in jiu-jitsu... Number two, people don't remember anything other than the fact that you won or lost. No one talked about the fact that Khabib [Nurmagomedov] missed weight how many times? Six, seven, eight times. They talk about the fact that Khabib's undefeated."
