Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic are set to collide in the main event of UFC 309 for the heavyweight title. Their clash has been a long time coming, having originally been scheduled to take place at UFC 295 in Nov. 2023, before 'Bones' suffered an injury that ruled him out of the fight.

With Jones and Miocic both having had essentially two full training camps ahead of their impending pay-per-view clash, they are more than prepared for the task at hand.

One man who has been a part of both of the heavyweight champion's training camps, Gordon Ryan, recently shared what impressed him most about the 'Bones'.

Jones is regarded by many fans and pundits as the greatest MMA fighter of all time, whilst Ryan is largely considered the greatest no-gi submission grappler in history.

During the UFC's countdown episode for UFC 309, 'The King' discussed what makes Jones a one-of-a-kind fighter, saying:

"Jon's fight IQ is just so much higher than anybody elses currently fighting. The thing that impresses me most about him as an athlete is his ability to pick up moves and translate the moves into different areas of the sport. I'd give him an idea to run with and then by the end of the session he has a whole system and a whole series of movements. The tools that he possesses are just going to be too much for Stipe to handle."

Gordon Ryan hints at Jon Jones laying down his gloves following UFC 309

UFC 309 will be headlined by a "legacy" fight between two icons of the sport, Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.

With 'Bones' and Miocic both holding numerous UFC records and being 38 and 42 years old respectively, there is an expectation that at least one of them could retire following their fight.

Jones' training partner, Gordon Ryan, recently hinted that the heavyweight champion may look to lay down his gloves on the hallowed octagon's canvas on Nov. 16

After completing his training camp for UFC 309, the New Yorker took to Instagram and shared some words of gratitude for his team. He wrote:

"My coaches have given me their absolute best, sacrificing nights away from their families. To my loyal teammates, there aren’t enough ways to express my thanks."

'The King' took to the comment section of the post, and wrote:
