Gordon Ryan has fired back at fellow Brazilian jiu-jitsu icon Kron Gracie after he criticized 'The King' for his stance on performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) in BJJ. Gracie, who now competes in the UFC, has taken pride in being a 'clean athlete' for his combat sports career.
Whereas Ryan has no problem talking about his use of PEDs while competing in BJJ competitions. With there being only one notable grappling competition that uses drug testing, the sport is rife with athletes who are on steroids all the way to the highest level.
The 28-year-old recently shared a lengthy statement on his use of PEDs, and the topic of steroids in BJJ, prompting some critique from Gracie.
His criticism has now drawn a respone from Ryan, who took to Instagram and wrote:

"Talking to these people is like talking to liberals. You present facts, and they're just like "no," lol. I say we are on earth. They say we are on Mars. We just aren't. They say steroids are illegal in jj.. they're just not. Like, they're just... not lmao."
He continued:
"2+2 just isn't 5. It's just not. You can say you don't like them. You can say they're not right. You can say they should be illegal, but the FACT is that they're just simply... not. Also, you're gonna tell me the family hasn't used steroids in jj and mma for like the last 5+ decades? Places they were legal?"

Gordon Ryan goes off on Mikey Musumeci's PED comments
Mikey Musumeci and Gordon Ryan are both regarded as pound-for-pound greats in BJJ. But the pair hold completely opposing stances on the use of PEDs in the sport.
Musumeci was recently signed by UFC Fight Pass, after which he shared his desire to eradicate PEDs from submission grappling. In a media appearance done before his UFC Fight Pass debut, 'Darth Rigatoni' shared the following statement:
"Other people like Gordon [Ryan] and Craig [Jones], they definitely help the sport grow in different ways. But I feel like what I'm doing now is definitely the most important thing for grappling."
