After Grant Dawson submitted the highly-rated and previously unbeaten Mark Madsen at UFC Vegas 64, the lightweight contender called out Tony Ferguson. The callout was very respectful, with Dawson seeing the potential contest as an 'honor' should the UFC book the fight.

Ferguson last competed in the UFC when taking on Nate Diaz at UFC 279 in the welterweight division, but 'El Cucuy' has made the 155lbs rankings his home throughout his career. However, the MMA legend is currently in poor form in the twilight of his career, with Ferguson losing his last five UFC outings.

Grant Dawson has only lost once in his professional MMA career, he has a pro MMA record of 19 wins, one loss and one draw. Seven of Dawson's victories have come under the UFC banner, with the 28-year-old earning his spot in the organization via Dana White's Contender Series.

Dawson is a submission expert, with 'KDG' winning 13 of his professional MMA outings via submission. Tony Ferguson is also an impressive submission artist, with 8 of his professional victories coming via submission. However, 'El Cucuy' also has deadly hands, finishing 12 of his opponents via TKO/KO.

A contest between Dawson and Ferguson would be a big test for both fighters. However, the two lightweights are in very different stages of their respective careers. Ferguson doesn't seem to be improving and 'KGD' is unbeaten in his last 11 professional MMA outings, making it a high-risk bout for 'El Cucuy'.

Despite Ferguson's form, the MMA legend would have a size advantage over the rising star. 'El Cucuy' stands at 180cm tall and has a reach of 194cm. His potenital opponent standS at 178cm and has a much shorter reach of 183cm.

Who is the only fighter to have beaten Grant Dawson in professional MMA?

Grant Dawson has only one defeat on his professional MMA record, with Hugh Pulley getting the better of the Stromsburg-born fighter back in 2016. Pulley won via TKO in the first round at Kansas City Fighting Alliance 18.

Hugh Pulley currently has a professional MMA record of eight wins and five losses in multiple organizations. 'The Wolverine' has fought in organizations such as Bellator and LFA and competes in Cage Fury Fighting Championship. Pulley's next outing is against Robert Hale at CFFC 114 on 10 October.
