At ONE 169, Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida made a triumphant return to action by getting back in the win column in a big way. Despite the magnitude of his win, the Brazilian wasn't in a rush after the fight to talk about what is next for him.
Almeida was already one of the top contenders in the heavyweight division, with his one and only loss coming to current world champion Oumar 'Reug Reug' Kane.
On Nov. 8 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, he halted the win streak of Amir Aliakbari in his biggest win and most impressive performance to date.
It's not surprising to see the submission grappling legend dominate opponents on the ground and submit them, but to do it against an opponent like Aliakbari was a statement performance.

However, rather than calling for a shot at the world champion, 'Buchecha' was looking to enjoy his win in the immediate aftermath, as he spoke about in a post-fight interview with the Bangkok Post:
"My next goal now is to go to the bar, have a beer, celebrate, and relax. That's my next goal. And then, I rest, cool down my head, and think about the next steps of my life and my career."

For Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida, ONE 169 couldn't have gone much better.
Not only did he bounce back from the first loss of his career by dominating and submitting a fellow top contender, the result of the main event also went in his favor.
With 'Reug Reug' shocking the world by defeating Anatoly Malykhin to become the champion, a rematch with his former opponent could be on the cards.
Having the chance to become the world champion and avenge his only loss in the same fight is sure to be an enticing option for the Brazilian.
