Christian Lee knew that Fabricio Andrade was well on his way to finishing off John Lineker, and that it was unfortunate that the two bantamweights’ barnburner ended in a disappointing no contest.
Andrade was in full control of the match but an accidental knee strike to Lineker’s groin unexpectedly put an end to the main event of ONE on Prime Video 3 this past weekend at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur.
In an interview with The MMA Super-Fan, Christian Lee revealed that he thought Andrade was on the brink of becoming the new ONE bantamweight world champion and had Lineker within an inch of a picture-perfect knockout. Like the rest of the mixed martial arts community, Lee was disappointed that the match was ruled a no-contest:

“I thought Fabricio Andrade put on an amazing performance. He was looking really sharp out there. He definitely showed that he was the better fighter that night. It’s unfortunate whenever a fight ends in controversy, but if it didn’t end in that fashion and the fight would have continued, I definitely think he would have gotten the finish that night.”
Lineker and Andrade threw bombs at each other for the three rounds the world title fight lasted but it was clear that ‘Wonder Boy’ landed the more accurate and significant strikes.
Andrade then opened the floodgates in the third bombarding Lineker from every angle. After bloodying up the face of ‘Hands of Stone’, Andrade landed a gut-wrenching knee strike to the body.
With his opponent reeling, Andrade launched another knee strike but his follow-up blow landed flush on Lineker’s groin area. With Lineker unable to continue after the mandated recovery period, the match was ultimately ruled a no-contest.

A couple of months after reclaiming lightweight gold from Ok Rae Yoon, ‘The Warrior’ will climb up a weight class and challenge Kiamrian Abbasov for the ONE welterweight world title. Lee revealed in a recent Instagram post that he’s back in training camp preparing for his bid to become a two-division world champion.
