Tommy Langaker got his hand raised the last time he grappled against his ONE Fight Night 27 opponent Dante Leon. Then again, he didn't leave that match unscathed. In fact, he suffered a broken arm after getting caught in a nasty armbar.
The Norwegian grappling ace reminisced about his first matchup against Leon at back at the 2018 IBJJF Pan-American Championships in the gi.
Langaker raced to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back, earning the victory via points after 10 minutes. However, the Canadian star nearly stole the match when he caught Langker with a fully extended armbar.
Somehow, the 30-year-old escaped but later admitted he suffered an injury. Langaker told the Bangkok Post's Nick Atkin:

"Yeah, we fought before back in 2018. He broke my arm, but I won by points in that fight. It was one of our debuts in black belt, so this one is gonna be fun to see."
The pair will run it back on the global stage this coming Friday, in a 180-pound catchweight submission grappling showdown at ONE Fight Night 27: Tang vs Abdullaev at Prime Video.

Dante Leon determined to submit Tommy Langaker this time around
Dante Leon still rues about not finishing the job against Langaker, and he'll get another chance on Jan. 10 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Speaking to ONE in an exclusive interview, the Pedigo Submission Fighting standout said he doesn't just want to even the score, he also wants to do it in style:
"To beat somebody like [Langaker] is huge – you beat a Black Belt World Champion. But to submit somebody like that, to control them and submit them, that’s even bigger. With everything that’s attached to that nowadays, I think that has to be the goal going into any match.”
Dante Leon is coming off a $50,000 bonus-winning performance in his promotional debut, where he submitted Bruno Pucci in just two minutes.
ONE Fight Night 27 will air live in US primetime free for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
