Khamzat Chimaev will reportedly be in attendance for the Sean Strickland vs. Dricus du Plessis middleweight title fight at UFC 312. This is the case according to a report from an X account known as @mma_orbit. Chimaev being physically present for this fight would make a great deal of sense, if proven true, considering many felt he should be the one in this championship effort.
Chimaev's win at UFC 308 over Robert Whittaker was seen as so devastating and dominant that many thought besting the former UFC middleweight champion should have earned him a crack at the strap. Alas, Strickland will be running it back against du Plessis in a rematch of their UFC 297 fight which saw te South African claim Strickland's 185-pound belt by way of a split decision in January.
X users responded in droves to this report as they echoed sentiments of support for Chimaev whereby people thought he should be in this fight. At the very least, some responders felt Chimaev should be given an opportunity for an in-cage faceoff with whoever the victor is.

Khamzat Chimaev indirectly irritating Dana White
The Sean Strickland vs. Dricus du Plessis rematch was made official during te UFC 310 broadcast last weekend. After the final pay-per-view offering of the year wrapped up, Dana White took to the post-fight press conference to field questions from on-site media members.
The 30-year-old contender was brought up by a reporter, as the media member asked about how close Chimaev was to getting the title shot. White responded irritably when asked about this and asked the reporters if this was 'stupid question night'.
White curiously mentioned 'Borz' was not getting the middleweight title shot, despite the reporter never articulating he was, and that the promoter was unsure of how close Chimaev was to getting booked in a title bout. That being said, the UFC figurehead ended his response by mentioning that Chimaev is always in the conversation, just not for the UFC 312 title fight specifically.
