Jarred Brooks expects a tough start to his main event contest at ONE Fight Night 24 on August 2.

'The Monkey God' has proven his versatility during his time in ONE Championship.

The former ONE strawweight MMA world champion has broken opponents down over time, gone five rounds at a constant pace, and secured the finish early on.

At Lumpinee Stadium, he's expecting his opponent, Gustavo Balart, to try and put the pressure on him early on.

With the interim strawweight MMA world championship on the line, Balart is sure to rely on his explosive striking and wrestling prowess to walk his opponent down.

Brooks is expecting this, as he spoke about in a recent interview with ONE Championship.

He knows what Balart brings to the table and is preparing to meet fire with fire from the opening bell:

"[Balart] is like a torpedo that first two rounds. You can hit him, and he's just gonna keep on coming forward. He doesn't care. He's just gonna hit you with those leg kicks and try to swing for the fences until he can reach your chin. So he's tough in that aspect."

Gustavo Balart presents dangers to Jarred Brooks

There is nobody quite like Gustavo Balart in the strawweight MMA division and that's something that Jarred Brooks will need to deal with.

His unique frame and wrestling pedigree make him an absolute powerhouse whilst Brooks tends to rely on his cardio and grappling ability to wear on opponents and take them out of their comfort zones.

It's sure to be a battle of wills on August 2 when these two very different styles clash for the first time.

The question for Brooks is whether he can keep himself safe from his opponent's offense whilst putting his own stamp on the fight at the same time.

ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
