Arman Tsarukyan is set to compete for the UFC lightweight title on Jan. 18. He will take on Islam Mahachev in the main event of UFC 311, which takes place at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
'Akhalkalakets' has had an impressive run in the UFC so far. He has won nine out of his 11 UFC bouts and is currently on a four-fight win streak. But Tsarukyan's time in the promotion hasn't been without adversity.
One instance where the 28-year-old faced trouble inside the octagon came during his fight against Joaquim Silva in June 2023.
In the second round, Silva landed a left hand that seemingly rocked Tsarukyan. The Armenian managed to recover and eventually went on to score a TKO victory in the third round.

The r/ufc subreddit uploaded a clip of the incident, which led to a conversation among MMA fans.
One individual labeled Tsarukyan's actions to be reckless:
"He fought recklessly. He got the win yes, but the top guys in the division wouldn't have let that opportunity go to waste."
Another person argued in the 28-year-old's favor, saying that any fighter could get "rocked" in a fight:
"Anyone can get rocked at any time. I don't take much away from Arman. If anything, he recovered well."
One user opined that things could have gotten worse for Tsarukyan if it was Charles Oliveira in Silva's place:
"Imagine if Charles touched him. He wouldn't have time to do the stanky leg."
