“He doesn't have good distance control” - Fabricio Andrade critics Kwon Won Il’s inability to take advantage of his wingspan

As terrific as Kwon Won Il's striking is, Fabricio Andrade believes his next challenger is still unable to fully maximize his physical tools.

After dealing with several injuries last year, 'Wonder Boy' is back to defend his bantamweight MMA world title against the South Korean sniper in one of three world title bouts in the blockbuster ONE 170 mega event this coming Friday.

Kwon's lanky built is quite deceptive given the dynamite he tucks aways in his fists.

'Pretty Boy' also boasts an impressive 73-inch wingspan, to go along with a measured leg reach of 40.16 inches.

While that pterodactyl-like reach gives Kwon a massive advantage over fighters in the 145-pound MMA ranks, Fabrico Andrade is baffled that he wastes those attributes due to his supposed poor distance management.

The Brazilian champ explained Kwon's deficiencies in a ONE Championship interview:

"He faces smaller athletes and always moves forward, so he doesn't have good distance control and doesn't use his wingspan well. I have good distance control, and I can use that to my advantage to land strikes without him being able to counterattack."

Coming from a kickboxing background, Fabricio Andrade is indeed a master when it comes to creating separation while staying at a range where he can muster offense from a safe distance without fear of retaliation.

The Evolve MMA and Tiger Muay Thai standout proved that with a well-measured liver kick which put Kwon out in their first meeting in 2022.

Kwon Won Il says he'll emulate Jonathan Haggerty's path to success vs Fabricio Andrade

Fabricio Andrade's last fight in the Circle did not go as planned after Jonathan Haggerty knocked him out convincingly and denied his bid for two-sport supremacy.

Kwon Won Il certainly took notes of that match-up and learned a few tricks from 'The General' that he'll gladly use to dethrone the Brazilian this coming Friday.

'Pretty Boy' said in a Sportskeeda MMA exclusive:

"I saw him go down with a punch against another fighter. It gave me confidence that the same thing would happen to him with my punch."

ONE 170 will emanate from Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, on Jan. 24. The full event will air live in Asian Primetime via watch.onefc.com.
