Many fight fans are eager to see Jon Jones versus Tom Aspinall. However, one of Jones' former training partners believes the match-up wouldn't be very competitive. During the latest episode of Bare Knuckle Bowker, Cody East discussed several topics following his fourth-round TKO win over Dylan Rush, which took place at BYB 35 in the co-main event on Jan. 11.
East said he could see Jones versus Aspinall happening in 2025 if 'Bones' decides to take the fight:
"I think Jon does Aspinall, you know what I mean? I think he goes in there and he makes it look simple, dude. I really believe that, you know. I think he's the best, you know what I mean? He really is, he's very smart. You've seen Aspinall, it was early in his career, but he got manhandled pretty good by a wrestler and he had a loss.
"If that guy can do that to you, what could Jon do to you, you know what I mean? Jon's going to attack from various attacks and different things. He's not going to play Aspinall's game. When Aspinall wants to strike, Jon's just going to wrestle. When he wants to wrestle, Jon's gonna strike. I believe if Jon gets paid what he wants, he'll take that fight."

Jon Jones loses Dana White's rankings spot, Tom Aspinall responds
Dana White's long-standing characterization of Jon Jones as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport has become a meme of sorts. However, the UFC president has since revised his pound-for-pound rankings after lightweight champion Islam Makhachev's performance at UFC 311.
Makhachev not only defended his belt on less than two days' notice against a surging Renato Moicano, but his first-round submission victory also earned him a place in the history books with four consecutive UFC lightweight title defenses.
The latest change in White's personal rankings sparked a reaction from interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. On his YouTube channel, Aspinall commented that he found White's shift in the post-fight press conference, placing Makhachev above Jones, amusing.
Jones is currently ranked second in the pound-for-pound UFC rankings, just behind Islam Makhachev. Meanwhile, Tom Aspinall holds the eighth spot.
