"He just like me fr" - Fans react as Alex Pereira finally replaces his "comfortable" Vans after a year, during sneaker shopping

MMA fans recently voiced their opinions about Alex Pereira replacing his old Vans sneakers with a pair of new ones. But Pereira didn't go for a design change, since he found his previous sneakers extremely comfortable.

'Poatan' is enjoying the perks of his dominant run in the UFC. The Brazilian defeated all three title defense rivals this year after winning the UFC light heavyweight gold at UFC 295 in November 2023. His last opponent, Khalil Rountree Jr., looked impressive in his bid for the light heavyweight title. He absorbed Pereira's strikes for three rounds before succumbing during the dying moments of the fourth round.

A recent Instagram reel from @complexsneakers showcased Pereira opting to replace his old Vans sneakers with a new one. But, the Brazilian refrained from choosing a different model. 'Poatan' in his native language spoke about how comfortable the shoes were. A translation of his words would read:

"I'm always wearing these shoes [Vans SK8-HI]. They are so comfortable. I really like them. [But] they are a bit dirty now. I could buy another pair, but it's not the same thing. It takes time for your new shoes to mold into your feet. So it doesn't feel same buying new ones. But these shoes are definitely my favorite."

The comments on the post showcased that fans found a lot in common between themselves and Pereira, as 'Poatan' also uses the same shoes for multiple purposes. A few reactions are highlighted below:

Alex Pereira's terms for Jamahal Hill rematch

Alex Pereira locked horns with the former UFC light heavyweight champ, Jamahal Hill, at the main event of UFC 300. Hill was pretty confident about getting the better of Pereira during the buildup to the fight. But 'Poatan' caught him with a devastating left hook in the first round.

But Hill couldn't accept his defeat sportingly. He has presented multiple reasons to justify his loss against Pereira while demanding another shot. 'Poatan' recently responded to Hill after a tweet about his upcoming rival, Jiri Prochazka. The Brazilian agreed to grant the American another title shot if Hill defeated Prochazka first. He wrote:

"Calm down, my son. Pass this test and Dad will give you a second chance."
