"He doesn't need underwear, he doesn't need shoes, he'll survive" - Ex-UFC star defends Colby Covington's claim that Alex Pereira could KO Jon Jones 

Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen defended Colby Covington's recent claim that light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira could KO heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Covington lauded Pereira for showing up on short notice and knocking his opponents out. He then stated that his former college roommate Jones could get caught by 'Poatan' if a fight was to get materialized. He said:

''Oh for sure he [Pereira] could definitely catch him [Jones]. I mean no doubt about it Jon's going to shoot for those legs, he doesn't want to get cracked by by Alex Pereira so that left hook and those kicks are are lethal, so I definitely think he can knock out Jon with with a straight, with a nice little left hook.''

Sonnen took to his official YouTube channel to respond to Covington's claims. He also thinks Pereira holds a good chance to surprise Jones. The 47-year-old said:

“Alex Pereira, if I didn't have video proof, I wouldn't even tell you anything about him. I would not expect for you to understand that a tribal man from the jungle in Brazil who can go out on the land on his own by the way, he doesn't need underwear, he doesn't need shoes, he will survive, he will turn a stick into an arrow he will find something else to create a bow and he will be having dinner on time that night."

Sonnen added:

"For Colby whose career is a riddle to give you a riddler over here on Pereira, there's very fair comparisons and to act as though Colby’s out to lunge by saying that Pereira could knock out Jon Jones, yeah Pereira could knock out Jon Jones.”

When Colby Covington ripped into Jon Jones after UFC 309 win

Colby Covington and Jon Jones have been vocal critics of each other for over a decade now. The pair were roommates in their college days and fell out badly with each other to a point where they have been discrediting each other's achievements.

Before his fight against Joaquin Buckley at UFC Tampa, Covington slammed Jones for his treatment of women. 'Chaos' said:

''Jon [Jones] has some fruity tendencies. I think the media needs to look into some of the fruity things that he does. It’s very strange...He’s been with some of the fattest, 300-pound slobs. It’s disgusting. Dude, Jon Jones is an absolute f**king disgrace to this earth. He’s a f**king joke... He’s a f**king coward, he’s a cheat, and he’s a woman beater.''
