Former two-division ONE champion Aung La N Sang has some serious advice for his friend and fellow former multi-weight titleholder Martin Nguyen.
'The Burmese Python' recently had an interview with The MMA Superfan and one of the topics was Nguyen's recent run in ONE Championship. Nguyen is 1-3 in his last four inside the circle and was most recently knocked out by divisional newcomer Ilya Freymanov.
Though 'The Situ-Asian' is far from being over-the-hill, Aung La N Sang saw a few things that could be worked on to improve Nguyen's game.

Here's what Aung La said about his friend:
"Yeah he [Nguyen] needs to come back and train. He needs to come back and train at Kill Cliff FC right now to get better looks. I feel like he was doing a lot of boxing, which is good, but Freymanov did a good job of kicking and showing the knee."
Nguyen was indeed working a lot on his boxing leading up to his fight with Freymanov. He relied a lot on his power overhand, which caused him to dip his head down too often, giving Freymanov the opening to land a knee strike.
Aung La was wise to point out that training with different looks and styles could have prevented such an opening to ever reveal itself.
Kill Cliff FC, formerly known as Sanford MMA, houses some of the best fighters of different styles. Perhaps it's in Nguyen's best interest to visit Florida once again and train with Aung La N Sang and the killers of Kill Cliff FC.

Aung La N Sang focusing on grappling ahead of his bout with Yushin Okami
Speaking of training partners, it seems like Aung La N Sang is employing world-class grapplers in his fight camp for Yushin Okami at ONE 163.
In his last four fights, 'The Burmese Python' was dominated in the grappling department. In an interview with SCMP MMA, the Burmese MMA icon revealed the people he's been working with on his ground game:
“Rogan Gracie. Rogan is one of them. Eric Coyne as well. More of the jiu-jitsu-heavy guys. Herbert Burns. These are the guys that I work with, a lot of the grapplers, a lot more grappling with this camp. But at the same time, my striking is going to be sharp too.”
It's still yet to be seen if Aung La N Sang's newly-fortified and improved grappling arsenal will translate well inside the circle.
Judging from the names of the people he's training with, however, we wouldn't be surprised if 'The Burmese Python' becomes just as dangerous on the ground as he is on the feet.
