MMA fans were taken aback by Khamzat Chimaev's submission victory against Rober Whittaker at UFC 308. Chimaev placed full trust in his grappling skills making quick work of 'The Reaper' in the co-main event of the night.
Chimaev has a reputation for putting pressure on his rivals at the beginning of the fight. He followed the same approach in his UFC 308 encounter against Whittaker. 'Borz' resorted to wrestling after throwing a few initial feints. He also scored a successful takedown shortly by overpowering Whittaker's defense.
Chimaev looked vicious on the ground, chasing a submission with everything. Whittaker did manage to get to a half-standing position, but the Chechnya native took him down swiftly once more. Chimaev also secured a top mount, which he successfully converted to a neck crank, causing Whittaker to tap out at the 3:34 mark of the first round.

Khamzat Chimaev boosted his undefeated record to 14-0 with his clinical victory over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308. He also made good use of his time on the microphone with Daniel Cormier.
Chimaev initially expressed having a lot of respect for Whittaker, before stressing his desire to fight for the title. 'Borz' then accused certain UFC champions of running away from him and appealed to Dana White for a title shot:
"Dana, what's wrong with you? See man, give me the belt [title shot]. Woooo."
