Fourth-ranked ONE featherweight MMA competitor Shamil Gasanov approaches every fight inside the circle with the utmost respect for his opponent's abilities. Ahead of his 155-pound MMA bout with Halil Amir at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6, 'The Cobra' had this to say about what his foe brings to the table in an interview with ONE:
"Every opponent is dangerous in their own way. Halil is no exception. He brings his own set of challenges. What more can I say? He's dangerous in every area — wrestling, striking, you name it. We'll just have to figure out the right approach."
Gasanov established his name in the division by submitting knockout artist Kim Jae Woong in under three minutes in his October 2022 promotional debut.

Though he stumbled in his July 2023 outing against Garry Tonon at ONE Fight Night 12, the Peresvet Fight Team and Tiger Muay Thai affiliate rebounded with back-to-back wins over Oh Ho Taek and Aaron Canarte earlier this year.
How Shamil Gasanov, Halil Amir bout could end at ONE Fight Night 26
Because of Shamil Gasanov and Halil Amir's penchant for finishes, fans inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, could witness either man emerge with the win by knockout or submission.
A submission finish is more likely for Gasanov due to his experience as a two-time European Grappling Champion and World Grappling Champion.
On the other hand, Amir's striking power came through in his second-round knockout of former lightweight MMA world championship challenger Timofey Nastyukhin in October 2022.
In November 2023, he forced Ahmed Mujtaba to retire from the fight heading into the second round after a vicious ground-and-pound sequence towards the end of the opening frame.
ONE Fight Night 26 will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
