MMA fans are roasting Darren Till on social media after his latest boxing announcement.

Earlier this year, Till requested to be released from the UFC to explore other opportunities, which the promotion accepted. Shortly after parting ways with his longtime employer, the Liverpool native revealed his plans to compete in boxing.

‘The Gorilla’ recently announced that he’s interested in fighting Logan Paul or Tommy Fury. Once the quote started spreading throughout social media, Till began receiving backlash on Twitter, including some people saying:

“So sad, he was so close to fighting Izzy if he could have just strung a few decent wins together now he’s talking about fighting YouTubers, this man isn’t coming back to the UFC he’s lying to cope.”

“I dont get it Why is he calling out names of boxers that show no interest in him Darren is coming out of multiple losses, first fight and win impressively then call out, right?”
“Don't think anyone would care enough for it to be a money fight”
“He knew his stock was going downwards fast so just wanted some quick money boxing fights before hanging it up”
“So much for caring about greatness. This guy is finished and it sucks”
“He’s fallen so far. Sad to see”
“This dude is delusional never was that good.”
“Sad that the competition he's comparing himself to are influencer boxers.”
“No body cares bro.”
“Lol..fooking bum"

Darren Till last fought in December 2022, losing by a third-round submission against Dricus Du Plessis, extending his losing streak to three. ‘The Gorilla’ has struggled since his 2018 loss against Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight championship. His only win in his last four fights came against Kelvin Gastelum via split decision.

Darren Till teases ‘massive announcement’ in the coming weeks

Although MMA fans aren’t happy with Darren Till’s career choice, there are opportunities to make money. The question is, how does Till maneuver through the tricky business of boxing? During a video posted on Twitter, ‘The Gorilla’ had this to say about what’s next:

“Striking is my bread and butter, so I'm supremely confident with whoever I'm gonna be fighting and that's all she wrote. In the next few weeks, I'll have a massive announcement."

Since making his professional MMA debut in February 2013, Darren Till has established an overall record of 18-5-1, including a 6-5-1 UFC record. The 30-year-old plans to return to the octagon, but that could depend on how his boxing journey plays out. Only time will tell if he can find success in the next chapter of his fighting career.
