Jon Jones will make his highly-anticipated return next weekend as he looks to defend his heavyweight title for the first time against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in a bout that has been well over a year in the making.
'Bones' has just one loss on his record as he was disqualified from a 2009 bout against Matt Hammil for the use of 12-6 elbows. He has been working on the move following a rule change that allows the strike. Championship Rounds recently shared footage of that practice on X, captioning the post:

Fans reacted to the footage. @Brannjo claimed Jones is going to kill someone:
"He's going to kill someone"
@_SchuZ_ predicted that 'Bones' could retire following a 12-6 elbow:
"Watch Jon Jones walk away from the UFC with a 12-6 elbow KO on Stipe"
@neilmoonx believes Miocic does not have a chance to win the UFC 309 clash:
"Stipe doesn’t stand much of a chance against Jon imo. He’s 42 years old and hasn’t fought anyone since getting KO’d by Francis in 2021. Jon has been training with the best athletes in the world like Gable Stevenson and Gordon Ryan. I predict Jon takes him down and wins by second round TKO."
@PlatinumOmar suggested that the elbows could lead to significant injury:
"I don't like these elbows. I have a feeling they will cause serious damage to some fighters and will take them long time to recover and could cause them permanent brain damage."

CSAC executive director supportive of overturning Jon Jones' DQ loss
California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster recently appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show. He revealed that is supportive of overturning the only loss on Jon Jones' resume, which came against Matt Hamill via disqualification due to 12-6 elbows.
He discussed the possibility following the recent rule change, which allows the move, stating:
"The rule was what it was then. It's different now. It would be hard to go back - I'd be actually supportive of getting rid of that, but it's not my decision. But I think it's hard to go back with the rule being different than it is now."
Check out Andy Foster's full comments on Jon Jones' loss being overturned below:
Foster added that he did not like how the rule was enforced at the time. He noted that he would like to see the result overturned to a no-decision. Jones was beating Matt Hamill with vicious ground-and-pound strikes in their 2009 clash and repeatedly looked for the referee to stop the bout.
Ultimately, 'Bones' was disqualified for hitting his opponent with 12-6 elbows. Jones, Hamill, and UFC CEO Dana White have all expressed that the result should be overturned.
