Jonathan Haggerty and Felipe Lobo went to war

As Jonathan Haggerty prepares to start training camp for his second fight of the year, what he did in February cannot be overlooked.

Many would have crumbled under the pressure that was on him but 'The General' showed his championship heart on that particular night.

At ONE Fight Night 19, he put the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship on the line against the top contender, Felipe Lobo.

The challenger's start to the fight was perfect, as he caught and hurt the champion in the opening round.

Unfortunately for Lobo, he was unable to find the finish, and Haggerty continued to rally back into the fight throughout the second round.

The third round was a wild affair but it was the Brit that had the final say as he stopped his opponent to defend the title in a fight of the year contender.

In a recent interview on the Sky Sports MMA Club, Haggerty spoke about how this fight was a unique challenge, but after coming through it, he doesn't see it ever taking place a second time:

"But that's what happens, styles will make fights as well. Our styles gelled well, and he got off some good shots against me. But he's not gonna get it again."

Jonathan Haggerty will need that same grit at ONE 168

When you're the world champion, not to mention a two-sport champ, the challengers do not stop coming, and this is the case for Jonathan Haggerty.

Following his incredible war with Felipe Lobo earlier this year, he's now gearing up for a huge return at ONE 168 in Denver.

On September 6 he will face quite possibly his biggest test to date when defending the bantamweight Muay Thai crown against Superlek.

It's a clash of champions at the Ball Arena where only one man can come out on top in this dream match-up.

The entire event is set to air live at US prime time for the second-ever ONE Championship event in the United States.
