“He’s got a lot of strength” - Nabil Anane ready for the fight of his life against rampaging Nico Carrillo

Nabil Anane knows he's in for a tough test against 'The King of the North' at ONE 170.

Riding the momentum of five straight wins under the ONE Championship banner, the 20-year-old Algerian-Thai sensation will look to claim his first 26 pounds of gold when he meets Scottish superstar Nico Carrillo for the interim ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title this Friday, January 24.

Since making his debut against two-sport champ Superlek Kiatmoo9 in June 2023, Anane has looked nothing short of spectacular, earning epic knockout victories over the likes of Nakrob Fairtex and Kulabdam. Those matched with unanimous decision wins over Muangthai, Felipe Lobo, and Soe Lin Oo have earned Anane a spot in the bantamweight Muay Thai rankings.

Now, he'll look to score the biggest win of his career thus far, but to do that, he knows he'll have to pass a very tough test against 'The King of the North.'

"[Carrillo] is a good fighter," Anane told ONE. 'His striking is very good – very good punches – and he’s strong. He’s got a lot of strength, and yeah, he’s a very good fighter."

As impressive as Nabil Anane has looked over the last year, Nico Carrillo has been equally impressive.

In less than two years, Carrillo has landed four straight knockouts on martial arts' biggest global stage, none bigger than his epic come-from-behind KO against former ONE world champion Nong-O Hama at ONE Friday Fights 46.

He followed that up with a big second-round stoppage against Thai legend Saemapetch Fairtex, setting the stage for his first ONE world title opportunity.
