“He's gotta be good” - Dante Leon breaks down Bruno Pucci’s grappling repertoire ahead of ONE Fight Night 26 showdown

ONE Championship newcomer Dante Leon expects a good challenge against lightweight MMA standout Bruno Pucci at ONE Fight Night 26.

After topping the podium at the IBJJF world championships in 2019 and 2022, Leon will make his debut on martial arts' biggest global stage this Friday night when ONE heads back to the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok for a loaded fight card featuring two can't-miss title bouts and a handful of exciting promotional debuts.

Leon is scheduled to square off with Pucci, an accomplished mixed martial artist with a plethora of BJJ experience — including two No-Gi world championship titles in 2009 and 2010.

Offering some insight into his opponent, Leon believes Pucci will be more than capable of holding his own on the mat:

"Yeah. I've looked online," Leon told the promotion during a recent interview. "It seems like he likes to play some deep half-guard, reverse half-guard things. He seems like he has a knowledge of leg locks, closed guard, you know, on top wrestling control-wise. I haven't seen too much of it, but I know he's gotta be good."

While Bruno Pucci is best known for his work in MMA — and being the husband of former ONE atomweight MMA queen Angela Lee — 'Puccibull' thinks his experience in the fight game will offer him an advantage against the Canadian-born Leon.

"Jiu-jitsu for jiu-jitsu, we’re both good," Pucci told ONE. "But I think, as I fought for ONE for a while, and as I stepped into the ring for a while, I think that experience can help me come out on top. So, I want to really use the MMA game against the jiu-jitsu game."
