Earlier this year, Conor McGregor officially announced he joined the BKFC as a part owner. Since then, the former two-division UFC champion has utilized his massive platform and marketing skills to help founder David Feldman grow the promotion.
McGregor has voiced his belief that bare-knuckle boxing could make a significant splash in the combat sports world. The 36-year-old hasn't ruled out the possibility of competing in the promotion, but first, he plans to return to the UFC Octagon.
What's next for Paulo Costa and Conor McGregor in the UFC?
Conor McGregor hasn't fought since suffering a severe leg injury against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He was scheduled to return against Michael Chandler in June before pulling out due to a broken toe.
McGregor and Dana White have since seemed to move on from the long-standing potential matchup against Chandler. Instead, Chandler is scheduled to fight Charles Oliveira on Nov.16 at UFC 309.
Meanwhile, McGregor has been tied to rumors of a potential matchup against Dan Hooker, which hasn't been confirmed by the UFC. The latest update from Dana White is that 'The Notorious' will likely return in 2025.
As for Paulo Costa, the Brazilian middleweight is coming off consecutive decision losses against Robert Whittaker (unanimous) and Sean Strickland (split). It's unclear when and who Costa will fight next, but he's vowed to showcase his old aggressive style that made him a dangerous 185-pound contender.
