Jon Jones has not competed since defeating Ciryl Gane via first-round submission at UFC 285 last March.

The heavyweight champion was set to return against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295, however, he tore the tendon that connects the pectoral muscle to the bone and was forced to withdraw from the bout.

Jones' inactivity has led to contested debates between UFC CEO Dana White and media members over whether or not he should be the No. 1-ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the promotion. That culminated with the promotion running a commercial proclaiming 'Bones' was the greatest fighter of all-time during last night's episode of 'Dana White's Contender Series'.

Jones shared a photo of the promotional ad with a barely noticable message claiming that he is ducking Tom Aspinall. Championship Rounds shared a screenshot, tweeting:

Dana White goes back-and-forth with media members over Jon Jones' P4P status

Dana White has not been shy about making it known that he believes Jon Jones is the top pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. Speaking at his post-fight press conference following last week's 'Dana White's Contender Series', the promotional frontman stated:

"He moved up and he fought Ciryl Gane and destroyed him in a weight class above him, who was the No.1 guy in the world - in the UFC. Then, we book another fight. He's training for the fight, blows his shoulder out - which means he's still active - gets surgery, recovering and is scheduled to fight in November. He is an active fighter."
