Fabricio Andrade didn’t hold his words back following the controversial end to his world title match against John Lineker.

The Brazilian star was arguably on the cusp of winning the ONE bantamweight world title, but the main event of ONE on Prime Video 3 was ruled a no-contest when Lineker couldn’t continue after receiving an inadvertent knee to the groin.

Lineker’s manager Alex Davis even shared on Instagram just how shattered the cup ‘Hands of Stone’ wore following the strike.

Nevertheless, Andrade did not spare his words when describing how Lineker allegedly ran away from the bout. Fabricio Andrade posted a video, which the MMA Super-Fan shared on YouTube, wherein he said that the inadvertent groin shot wasn’t enough to put the match to an end.

Andrade said:

“Honestly, I don’t think it was enough to make him stop the fight. But he knew that in the third round, I just dropped him with a body knee, and he took the easy way out.”

The world title match between Andrade and Lineker was at a fever pitch right from the opening bell, with both fighters launching bombs at each other.

Lineker found a way to land some heavy punches down Andrade’s guard in the second round but ‘Wonder Boy’ quickly recovered and had his fellow Brazilian star on the back foot near the end of the round.

Things got worse for Lineker in the third round as Andrade continued to pile on the pressure. The fight, though, just had an unfortunate end following an illegal groin strike.

Fabricio Andrade suffers unexpected end to world title challenge

Fabricio Andrade was on a terrific run in his ONE Championship career but all that momentum sadly came crashing down when he was on the precipice of winning the ONE bantamweight world title.

A 5-0 start in the organization pushed Andrade a step closer to the ONE bantamweight world title. Unfortunately, for 'Wonder Boy', an accidental groin shot ended that promising run.

Andrade and John Lineker were embroiled in an absolute barnburner in the main event of ONE on Prime Video 3 when an inadvertent knee strike to the groin ultimately ruled the fight a no contest.

In the same video, Fabricio Andrade admitted that the low blow was a mistake and that the end to the match wasn’t one he expected.

“The fight didn’t end as I expected. I was feeling very comfortable, very confident in the fight. I was pushing the pace and trying to finish him as soon as I could. And I made a mistake and hit him with the low blow.”
