Newly crowned UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira was on Joe Rogan's radar even before the Brazilian achieved MMA greatness.
During episode #1580 of The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE), the UFC commentator told comedian Andrew Schulz that the then-MMA up-and-comer Pereira carried monstrous power in his hands.
Rogan explained that 'Poatan's' power was distinctly superior to that of the other competitors in his weight class:
"There's a guy that's in MMA now. That's the last guy to knock [Israel Adesanya] out. His name is Alex Pereira. And he is truly one of the most terrifying human beings alive... Dude, he hits people and it doesn't even make sense. He is the same size as these people, but he hits them [and] it's like he is a heavyweight and they are lightweight. I'm telling you he has got f***ing freaky power."

The fact that six out of the seven MMA wins of the Brazilian's career have come via knockout is testament to his unreal power. In fact, his nickname 'Poatan' translates to 'hands of stone', an alias he earned via some brutal KOs during his kickboxing days.
In a recent interview, former light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira stated that Pereira's power is a true gift and that no amount of training is going to help people achieve that kind of power unless they are born punchers like 'Poatan'.

Joe Rogan says that a hulking fighter like Alex Pereira fighting at middleweight was "sanctioned cheating"
Earlier this month, Alex Pereira shocked the world by dethroning Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 via a fifth-round TKO. Many fans and pundits noticed that Pereira was looking huge compared to 'The Last Stylebender' during the fight.
During episode #1900 of JRE, Rogan told television personality Steve-O that a hulking fighter like Pereira fighting at 185lbs was "sanctioned cheating." When Steve-O insinuated that Pereira could have been around 220lbs during the fight, Rogan agreed:
"He could have been. Yeah. He certainly gets above that in-between fights... He has a hard time making 185... It's a bull***t thing. It's basically sanctioned cheating. It really is. But everybody does it... But Izzy barely does it."

It's interesting to note that 'Poatan' put on almost 27lbs between the weigh-ins and the day of the event, weighing in at least 211lbs on fight night.
