Heated rivalry concluded: Watch Mikey Musumeci shut down Gabriel Sousa

American grappling ace Mikey Musumeci ended his heated rivalry with Brazilian Gabriel Sousa with a stellar performance and victory in their recent rematch in Bangkok, Thailand. The reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion made sure he did not fall for a second time to the Fortaleza native in their bantamweight clash at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II on June 7.

Musumeci did it with a dominant showing that culminated in him employing a nasty calf slicer that left Sousa with no choice but to tap out in submission.

ONE Championship uploaded a video documenting the fiery rivalry between the two top-notch grapplers that ended at ONE 167 on its official YouTube channel.

The win at ONE 167 was a payback for Mikey Musumeci on Sousa, who defeated him by submission in an event outside of ONE Championship in September 2021.

Mikey Musumeci was on the receiving end of some biting words from Gabriel Sousa in their recent rematch, which only served to motivate him more to come up with a statement victory as well as highlight the value of humility.

In the lead-up to ONE 167 on June 7, Musumeci shared that Sousa was all over his case for losing to him nearly three years ago, which he admitted made him take their rematch personal.

"Darth Rigatoni' shared this in an interview with the South China Morning Post, saying:

"That's why I was very amped up and pissed, because every time I was winning matches, he always had to comment. So I shut him up and I taught him a lesson of humillity. So we're all learning and getting better."

After his victory, to further highlight his point, Musumeci uncharacteristically went off on Sousa at the post-fight in-ring interview over the things that was said ahead of their rematch, drawing cheers from the crowd.
