A bantamweight bout between Cory Sandhagen and Marlon Vera was recently announced as the main event of UFC Fight Night 219. Former double champ Henry Cejudo, who is planning to re-enter the division, shared why he believes the fight, which is scheduled to take place at the UFC Apex, should be in front of fans.
Sandhagen, the No.5-ranked bantamweight, was able to get back in the win column in his only bout of 2022. He took 11 months off following back-to-back losses in 2021. Vera, the No.4-ranked bantamweight, will put his four-fight win streak on the line as he hasn't lost since 2020. He is looking to inch closer to a title shot in the crowded bantamweight title picture.
Speaking on his YouTube segment, Breaking Down The Fight, Cejudo stated:

"I don't like it. I don't like it. I think this fight - the bantamweight division is the toughest division in the world right now, bar none. Any of those guys could challenge for the title and beat the champ right now, who is [Aljamain Sterling], but I think a fight like that belongs in a big stadium, belongs in a sold-out arena. The Apex is not doing justice for any of the fighters."
Cejudo continued:
"Yeah, the UFC is saving money, but again, it's not promoting the sport. It's not giving these fighters these different experiences because every time I fought, I wasn't fighting in a d**n 300-seat arena. I've always fought in front of 20-25,000... For a fight like that, Dana White, UFC, bring justice to these guys. Bring justice because these guys deserve it. They belong to put on a show in front of thousands and thousands of people."
While the bout between Cory Sandhagen and Vera would be more electrifying if it were at an arena, there will still be plenty of fans tuned in to what should be an entertaining matchup. As for his prediction for the fight, Cejudo shared that he is backing Sandhagen.

Sean O'Malley shares a disadvantage that Cory Sandhagen faces against Marlon Vera
Henry Cejudo is not the first bantamweight contender to weigh in on the recently announced bout between Cory Sandhagen and Marlon Vera taking place at UFC Apex. Sean O'Malley shared how he believes the location of the fight will affect the outcome.
Speaking on his podcast, TimboSugarShow, the No.1-ranked bantamweight stated:
"The only difference is the cage, the small cage. The big cage is what, 40 percent bigger than the small cage? Like, quite a bit, significantly bigger. That plays a role... I think it gives Chito a pretty big advantage. I don't know if advantage is the right word, but a disadvantage rather for Cory."
While the UFC has been hosting events at the UFC Apex since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, between Cejudo and O'Malley's comments, it seems as if fighters don't exactly love to compete at the Apex facility.
