Brazilian jiu-jitsu star Danielle Kelly is surrendering some size in her upcoming fight but is not too worried as she is confident she has the technique to offset it.
The Silver Fox BJJ representative will take on Japanese judoka Ayaka 'Zombie' Miura in a catchweight submission grappling matchup at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video on February 24 in Bangkok.
Miura is at least two kilograms heavier than Kelly, who enjoyed a size advantage in her two previous fights.

Speaking in a pre-event interview for ONE Fight Night 7, the American grappler asserted that for her scheduled fight, it is going to boil down to technique rather than size:
“I get to eat whatever I want. And I don't really have to be on a strict diet as I'm flying 20 hours. I feel just as fine when I walk around with the team, usually lighter sometimes, but if I just use my technique right, I think her size won't matter.”
Danielle Kelly has been one of the trailblazing athletes for submission grappling under ONE since making her promotional debut last year, along with current world champions Kade Ruotolo and Mikey Musumeci. She also has world championship dreams which she is looking to fulfill in the very near future.
ONE Fight Night 7 will take place at the famous Lumpinee Boxing Stadium and will be aired live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
Danielle Kelly reveals she has been training with bigger girls to prepare for Ayaka Miura
Giving up some size disadvantage in her scheduled fight next week, submission grappling ace Danielle Kelly saw it fit to train with bigger athletes as part of her preparation.
The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is set to take on Japanese judoka Ayaka 'Zombie' Miura in a catchweight submission grappling showdown at ONE Fight Night 7 on February 24 in Bangkok.
Danielle Kelly shared with Game Breakers that she is satisfied with the results of her training with bigger fighters and is confident that it will make a difference come fight night:
"Training’s pretty good. I’ve been studying her, she’s gonna be a little bit bigger than me, this is a catchweight at 119. I walk between like 110 and 115 on a good day, so yeah, I can eat a lot for this camp."
He added:
"I know she’s gonna be strong. I’ve been training. Just like today I was training with the 105 [pound] champions from another promotion just to get a feel of how my opponent’s gonna feel because they’re really strong MMA fighters. But yeah, just focusing on my technique and what I’m good at and have her play my game."
Danielle Kelly is looking to build on what has been an eventful run to date in ONE, which has seen her book a draw and a victory and earn a $50,000 performance for both.
Miura, for her part, is out to swing back to winning consistently and figure once again in the world title hunt in mixed martial arts.
