Superbon once challenged for the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title when he faced Tawanchai for the first time at ONE Friday Fights 46 in December 2023.
The all-Thai super fight had all the makings of a classic, and both fighters more than delivered on the hype that the matchup promised.
It was a brutal back-and-forth between the phenoms, with the Bangkok crowd inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium singing to every punch, elbow, knee, and kick Superbon and Tawanchai threw at each other.
In the end, Tawanchai came away with the unanimous decision win in a matchup that fans have clamored to have a sequel to.
Since that defeat, Superbon captured the ONE interim strawweight kickboxing world title at the expense of eternal rival Marat Grigorian at ONE Friday Fights 58 in April this year.
Superbon then knocked out Jo Nattawut with a stunning elbow shot in their featherweight Muay Thai showdown at ONE Friday Fights 81 last month.
Superbon hell-bent on securing the Muay Thai belt against Tawanchai
While no official announcements were made when he beat Jo Nattawut, Superbon already felt the win would be the catalyst for his second chance at the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title.
Superbon, a former ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion, showcased his Muay Thai origins when he clocked Nattawut with a perfectly timed elbow in their matchup at ONE Friday Fights 81.
Following his sublime knockout of Nattawut, Superbon said in a post-fight interview:
"That means I step closer to the belt. For me right now, because my goal is the belt, so I'm going to go there."
