Rodtang Jitmuangnon hasn't become one of the biggest stars in combat sports by backing down from his opponents. At the same time, Jacob Smith is not the kind of competitor that is going to go away without a fight.
The resilience of the Brit has been one of the defining traits of both his life and career to this point. This was on full show in his introduction to the fans back in his ONE Championship debut over two years ago.
Smith was welcomed to the promotion by the biggest star in all of Muay Thai, 'The Iron Man,' Rodtang.
Despite the Thai star dominating the fight, he was unable to secure the finish due to the toughness and durability of the man stood across the cage from him.

This is sure to factor into their upcoming rematch at ONE 169 on Nov. 8, where the reigning champion will put his ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship on the line at Lumpinee Stadium.
In the lead up to the fight, he spoke in an interview with ONE Championship about what he learned about Smith in the first fight and what he expects from him in the rematch:
"The best weapon for Jacob is his durability. His durability makes him a hard opponent for everyone."
Rodtang is always confident in the skills that he brings to the table
There have been criticisms in the past about the lack of preparation that Rodtang goes through before he returns to action. However, this is only possible because of his supreme self confidence and the knowing that he can perform under the brightest lights at the drop of a hat.
Though he needs to be wary of the toughness and growing confidence of Smith, 'The Iron Man' always believes that he will be too much for his opponents.
He will look to overwhelm his challenger once again on Nov. 8.
