ONE strawweight Lito Adiwang is a fan favorite due to his electrifying style inside the circle. Unfortunately, 'Thunder Kid' has been sidelined with an injury since March, but people close to the situation say he'll make a full recovery.

The Filipino fighter suffered an ACL tear in the second round of his last fight against Jeremy Miado at ONE X. Since then, he's been entirely focused on returning to full strength in the near future.

His head coach at Team Lakay, Mark Sangiao, recently told ONE Championship that Adiwang will be stronger than ever upon his return. Sangiao said:

“I just tell him that his knee is going to be even stronger than it was before once it fully recovers. I always tell him to keep it positive and I’m always here to lend an ear to him to make sure he won’t have any negative thoughts.”

Things haven't changed for the 29-year-old, who still has gold in his crosshairs.

Lito Adiwang overcame fear of ACL tear

Sustaining a severe ligament injury, such as a torn ACL, presents questions to professional athletes regarding whether or not they'll return to full strength. The same goes for Lito Adiwang.

He told ONE that he had those very fears following the injury:

“Actually, I did have some mental fear in the first few weeks. It’s hard to overcome this type of injury, especially on the mental side of things. I have never experienced anything like this before. Simple things like sitting down and standing up, tying my shoelaces, were a struggle.”

That was where he was at a few months ago, but his mental state is in much better shape at this point in time. Doctors were able to successfully repair his right knee and with physical therapy, as well as time, 'Thunder Kid' will be fully recovered.

The highly-skilled martial artist aims to get back to the success he experienced upon entering ONE, when he achieved five straight victories, four of which came by way of finish.

Make sure to check back for an announcement pertaining to Lito Adiwang's comeback fight, as he'll be more determined than ever to put on a performance.
