Popular MMA commentator and podcasting icon Joe Rogan recently had UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad over on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. One of the interesting things the two talked about was the UFC bantamweight division.

Rogan cited how good former UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw was back when he was still fighting. After winning the belt and subsequently getting stripped of it due to a failed drug test after dropping to 125 pounds, Dillashaw came back to beat Cory Sandhagen to get another shot at bantamweight gold.

However, he lost to then-champion Aljamain Sterling after injuring his already repaired shoulder mid-fight. He then retired from MMA and bulked up significantly.

Rogan said:

"Imagine [T.J.] Dillashaw not having all those injuries and someone talking him out of going down to [flyweight] 25?"

Muhammad then said:

"Did you see how big he is right now? It's wild."

Rogan replied:

"Bro he's huge. He's like 180 pounds... His p*ss would melt that USADA cup [laughs]."

Joe Rogan and Belal Muhammad lauds T.J. Dillashaw's coach, Duane Ludwig

Joe Rogan and Belal Muhammad also cited T.J. Dillashaw's coach, Duane 'Bang' Ludwig, as one of the major reasons for the former champion's success. Ludwig is a former UFC fighter who developed a fighting system called Bang Muay Thai.

Rogan also mentioned that it's interesting how Ludwig didn't fight in the same style he'd teach his students like Dillashaw. 'Bang' had a more traditional Muay Thai style but didn't incorporate a lot of stance switches and movement like he'd teach the former UFC bantamweight king.

Rogan said:

"I don't know if you ever trained with Duane [Ludwig], he's got an incredible system. That Bang Muay Thai system is one of the most complex and well-thought-out striking systems I've ever seen. He's a maniac. He's got notebooks, like binders, with all these moves, like locked in... He figured out that this is the way."
