After falling short in her first bid to secure ONE gold, Filipino-American superstar Jackie Buntan left no stone unturned to change the plot when she went toe-to-toe with Anissa Meksen at ONE 169.
Up against someone of 'C18's caliber, the Boxing Works representative knew she would have her hands full even before she traded leather with the multi-time world champion inside the revered Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
But after 15 minutes of action, she deservingly took home the unanimous decision win and recognition as the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world champion.
When asked what she'd like next, Jackie Buntan had this to say to members of the media at the post-event presser:

Jackie Buntan's emphatic display over Anissa Meksen could set her up on a road to two-sport glory
The 27-year-old California resident, who was also making her kickboxing debut, took some time to settle in at ONE 169.
But once she more or less had Meksen figured out, it was all about throwing the cleaner and more powerful shots on her way to the 26 pounds of gold.
Whether it was her assortment of punches or kicks, Jackie Buntan appeared to be more comfortable throwing volume at Meksen.
Given the form Buntan is in, that dream of the Muay Thai crown looks very possible.
Besides, with the gold vacant and her world title defeat to Smilla Sundell still playing at the back of her mind, Buntan would like nothing more than to prove to the naysayers that she has what it takes to attain two-sport world championship status on the global stage of ONE Championship.
