Staph infections are unfortunately a commonplace occurrence for high-level mixed martial artists and a top-ten-ranked combatant within the UFC seems to be dealing with this. The individual in question is the number nine ranked middleweight in the UFC, who shared a visceral image of his staph situation to the world of social media.
Brendan Allen posted the images online of the grisly staph infection situation with the pictures of the infected arm eventually being shared by X account @mma_orbit (from his Instagram). X users from within the mixed martial arts community flocked to this post to offer up their thoughts on the ghastly infection Allen has.

Major instances of staph infection in UFC
The presence of staph infection within mixed martial arts has been notable historically. Even within the last year or two, there have been some especially notable instances.
ufc-301" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-is-sponsored="false">Jiri Prochazka is someone who notably dealt with this issue ahead of his bid to become a two-time light heavyweight champion in the promotion. The staph issue that affected Prochazka took place ahead of his UFC 295 clash with Alex Pereira for the vacant title in what was the first fight between the two.
In an appearance on The MMA Hour after the fight, Prochazka stated how he had to still fight this staph situation several weeks following his Pereira clash. Benoit Saint-Denis also had his own issues with staph and he addressed how he found out about this forehead infection just two days before he had to fly out to Miami for his fight against Dustin Poirier.
A round of antibiotics taken to tackle that infected area as well as a difficult weight cut put BSD in a position where he stated, also on The MMA Hour post-fight, felt totally zapped of all energy as the second round kicked off. It was in this round of the contest that Saint Denis would be finished by Poirier with strikes during their UFC 299 contest.
Also, Kelvin Gastelum had a difficult weight cut for UFC Saudi Arabia that the fighter's coach said came from staph infection issues. Santino DeFranco stated on his YouTube channel that Gastelum had a motorcycle accident in Thailand leading into the then-welterweight contracted fight with Daniel Rodriguez in the summer.
The accident created several cuts and scrapes leading to Gastelum getting staph and the bout was eventually shifted to a middleweight matchup.
