Alex Pereira, the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion, has been praised for his charitable work in his hometown of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Pereira, who experienced firsthand the hardships of growing up in a favela, expressed his desire to help others who are facing similar struggles

Alex Pereira's next fight is against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307. Ahead of the fight, UFC released a countdown video on the YouTube channel which featured Pereira returning to the neighborhood of Batistini, where he grew up, to distribute over a thousand boxes of food and essentials to families in need.

Speaking in the clip, Pereira said:

"My reality used to be theirs. I went through a lot of hardship, and my biggest fear was always being hungry. So if I can do something to help, I'll do it."

Chael Sonnen hails Alex Pereira for dominating in the UFC

Chael Sonnen has heaped praise on Alex Pereira, labeling him a "legitimate tough guy" in a sport that he feels is often filled with "fake tough guys."

Pereira, a former kickboxing world champion, has made a meteoric rise in the UFC since transitioning to MMA. His dominant performances and charismatic personality have quickly made him one of the promotion's biggest stars.

Impressed by Pereira's toughness and skill. In a recent YouTube video, Sonnen said:
