VICE TV recently dropped a clip detailing the infamous withdrawal of an MMA pioneer from his highly anticipated bout against Kimbo Slice. The bout was a big step up in competition for the YouTube sensation-turned-MMA star at the time and a key factor in the downfall of EliteXC.
The clip was dropped as the network continues building anticipation for their new series 'Dark Side of the Cage', with tonight's debut episode focusing on the life and career of Slice. Slice was quickly making a name for himself in EliteXC and generated plenty of attention for the promotion, which resulted in them booking him in a main event clash with MMA pioneer Ken Shamrock in October 2008.
A cut to the UFC Hall of Famer halted those plans hours before the bout and he was replaced by Seth Petruzelli, who defeated Slice via TKO in only 14 seconds. MMA Fighting posted a clip, which shows the backyard brawler's coach questioning how Shamrock received a cut so close to the fight and implied that it was intentional:
"[Shamrock] found out how much Kimbo was making and how much he was making, and he thought Kimbo wasn't deserving of that paycheck. How do you get cut three hours before a big fight? Like, what are you doing?"

Ken Shamrock claps back at speculations regarding his withdrawal from Kimbo Slice fight
In addition to Kimbo Slice's coach sharing his thoughts on the infamous withdrawal, Ken Shamrock also clapped back at the speculations regarding his intentions.
During the aforementioned clip, the former UFC Superfight champion mentioned that he wouldn't have intentionally removed himself from a fight due to a contract dispute. Shamrock mentioned that he had several disagreements regarding his contract in other promotions but never backed out of an agreement:
"We were doing a drill and my head went down and he popped his head up. Boom, I reached up and there's blood...The things that came out of that were just ridiculous. I've gone through this my whole career with having disagreements in contracts, but I fought. I didn't not fight."
