The purse bid for the upcoming WBC women's super featherweight title fight between Alycia Baumgardner and Delfine Persoon has been finalized. Global Combat Collective emerged as the winning bidder with a bid of $500,000.
As per WBC regulations, 10 percent of the purse bid, amounting to $50,000, will be set aside as a win bonus for the victorious fighter. The remaining $450,000 will be divided between the two boxers, with Baumgardner, as the champion, receiving 70 percent ($315,000) and Persoon, the mandatory challenger, receiving 30 percent ($135,000).
Ahead of the highly anticipated bout, Baumgardner expressed her dedication to advocating for better pay for female athletes. She stressed the importance of giving visibility to women in sports and the need for continuous dialogue and questioning to address gender pay disparities.
