Episode #2256 of The Joe Rogan Experience saw the podcaster and fellow comedians Ari Shaffir, Shane Gillis, and Mark Normand take aim at California governor Gavin Newsom over the Palisades fire.

Newsom took part in an interview about the destruction caused by the wildfire in Los Angeles County. As he addressed the media, Newsom began shimmying his shoulders, which an outraged Rogan regarded as excitement about a possible land grab, saying the following:

"The thing [fire] in Hawaii has been a f***ing disaster for the people that lost their houses. No one's rebuilt, no one's rebuilt, right? So, he's talking about that and talking to the governor who's obviously mishandled that. What is this [shimmying shoulders]? What is getting excited about it? 'Yeah, we're talking about some speculation, some land? See what we're gonna do with that land?' He can't hide his excitement for the possibilities that they might acquire some of that land. What does that land become now? How many of these people are gonna be able to rebuild? What happens with the coastal commission?'"

However, it wasn't just his body language that Rogan blasted. The longtime UFC commentator expanded on his conspiracy theory about Newsom allegedly coveting Californian land. Rogan continued:

"What happens with all the insurance companies that decided to cancel their fire insurance? This is not as simple as anybody thinks any fire would be, like you get your insurance money and you rebuild. You don't rebuild somewhere that's bigger than Manhattan. They lost what's larger than Manhattan. How're they gonna have the money? How're they gonna have $150 billion? That's the amount of money they require, so is the government gonna do it? Is the Biden administration gonna step up like they did for Ukraine? They spent $175 million on Ukraine. How much are they gonna spend on the Palisades?"

Joe Rogan and Mel Gibson heavily criticized Gavin Newsom

Episode #2254 of the podcast saw Joe Rogan and actor-director Mel Gibson blast Gavin Newsom's policies and overall wildfire management. Rogan said the following about Newsom's alleged failure to provide adequate funding for Los Angeles' fire department:

"We were just talking about the wildfire situation and how crazy it is that they spent $24 billion last year on the homeless, and what did they spend on preventing these wildfires? Zip."

It should be noted that Rogan moved to Texas from California some time ago. Moreover, he has expressed little desire to return, in part due to his shift in political ideology, which is no longer compatible with the widespread liberalism and left-wing rhetoric in California.
