For his long-awaited return to action later this year, American mixed martial arts fighter Sage Northcutt is following a strict schedule in training to stay in shape and ready for battle.

'Super' Sage will be part of ONE Championship’s landmark event in the United States on May 5 at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. It will be the promotion’s first-ever on-ground live event in North America, happening in Broomfield, Colorado.

It will also mark his first fight back in three-and-a-half years, having been kept on the sidelines due to various medical issues that required extensive recovery time. He will take on Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba in a lightweight collision.

Speaking to Great Day Colorado in an interview, Sage Northcutt shared that he is determined to make a winning return and is putting in the needed work in training.

He said:

“So coming up for fights, it can be somewhere between two to three hours in the morning. I go back, get some food. At night time I’m training another couple of hours so it could be like three to five hours a day mixing it up. But training hard, eating healthy, that’s like the most important thing.”

Sage Northcutt signed with ONE Championship in 2018 and has had only one fight, which he lost to Brazilian Cosmo Alexandre by way of a devastating early knockout in the first round in May 2019.

The loss resulted in multiple facial fractures, after which required surgery and a long recovery time. He was set to face off with Japanese legend Shinya Aoki in April 2021 but had to pull out because of lingering effects from COVID-19.

ONE Fight Night 10 is headlined by the trilogy fight between reigning ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson and former division king Adriano Moraes. It will be aired live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Sage Northcutt teases what fans can expect at ONE Championship’s first U.S. show

ONE lightweight fighter Sage Northcutt said fight fans are in for a treat in the promotion’s first-ever live event in the United States in May.

'Super' Sage highlighted how ONE Championship is assembling a full package of fight offerings to make ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on May 5 in Broomfield, Colorado, an event to remember.

Sage Northcutt excitedly teased what fans should expect at the groundbreaking live show in an interview with The MMA Hour.

He said:

"I heard there’s going to be, like a little teaser, there’s going to be possibly four different styles of martial arts. Possibly, it’s going to be kickboxing, Muay Thai, maybe jiu-jitsu. Also, like, submission grappling and MMA. So that’s going to be insane. I think that’s got to be the first for the U.S., for sure."
