Jon Jones' recent visit to a basketball court did not go as planned and it has sparked reactions from several sections of the MMA community. Many mocked Jones for missing the basket, while others defended the UFC star, claiming it was not his forte.
Jones attended the Knicks-Utah Jazz game on New Year's Day, where he was given the opportunity to take four three-point shots before the game. 'Bones' was unable to hit the rim, let alone make a basket. Knicks star Josh Hart, who was present at the basketball court, gave him the following advice:
''You gotta hit the rim''
UFC play-by-play commentator on UFC Fight Pass Ben Davis shared the clip of Jones' throws on X.

Javier Mendez doesn't think Jon Jones is the #1 pound-for-pound fighter
Jon Jones finished 2024 atop the pound-for-pound standings, above Islam Makhachev. However, MMA coach Javier Mendez believes otherwise.
In a recent interview with Hablemos MMA, Mendez argued that Makhachev should be the world's top P4P fighter while criticizing Jones' recent octagon outings. He said:
''This is what I always say: How many fights does Jon Jones have in the last four years? Tell me. How many?...you need to fight more than that (for pound-for-pound best). If Islam were to do the same, I’d put Jon Jones at No. 1 – but he hasn’t fought (as much). If he had been active, then it’s a different conversation – but he’s barely fought. That why, that reason alone, I put Islam at No. 1.” [H/t: MMA Junkie]
