Although Dante Leon defeated former two-time ONE lightweight submission grappling world title challenger Tommy Langaker in their catchweight submission grappling match at ONE Fight Night 27, he still wasn't fully satisfied with his performance.
Leon won unanimously over Langaker last Jan. 10 in front of the sold-out Lumpinee Stadium crowd in Bangkok, Thailand, to remain unbeaten under the ONE Championship banner.
However, during his interview with Nick Atkin following his victory, the Canadian Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt shared his biggest regret by saying:
"I'm tired, a little tired. Tommy was huge. I went up a weight for this. So, you know, obviously having to push around that 20-25 extra pounds, is going to get you a little tired, and it's hard to be as excited as I was because I didn't finish Tommy."

The Pedigo Submission Fighting athlete continued:
"That was the goal, not just the goal, because of what it comes with, with the bonus and with highlight and things like that, but the goal is always to finish people. The goal is always to keep that finishing rate high. I wasn't able to achieve that at the end, I think I was in on that submission. But you know, that's too little too late."

Dante Leon's sacrifice of not fully celebrating the holidays paid off with win over Tommy Langaker
During the same interview with Nick Atkin, Dante Leon also shared that he sacrificed his time during the holiday season to train and prepare for this match with the Norwegian athlete instead of fully celebrating.
According to him, it was all worth it because he was able to cement his status as the next potential title challenger to one of the Ruotolos. Leon claimed:
"It's unfortunate that I had to miss some of the holiday celebrations, but in the end, it worked out, I think I solidified myself as the No. 1 contender in this bracket, in this division, at 170 or 185."
