28-year-old American Muay Thai superstar 'The Chef' Luke Lessei was once a prisoner to his thoughts and the featherweight standout admits to being hampered by his insecurities and anxieties.

That's why when Lessei hired a mental coach to help him deal with his internal doubts, the positive effects were immediately apparent.

'The Chef' told the media in his official ONE Fight Night 27 post-fight interview:

"I'm not one to shout all that out and tell people that I'm fully confident and not nervous at all because that's there all the time. But for the first time in my life, I had an actual process. Shout-out to Jerry Walsh of Shawshank Mental Performance."

Lessei added:

"I had an actual process of things to do when I was feeling those nerves, and our goal was to have the right amount of nerves, and I think it was. Because you don't want to be too nervous, but you also don't want to be not nervous at all, because otherwise what you're doing wouldn't have high stakes. So yeah, I mean, I'm nervous every flight, but I'm dealing with it better and better."

Lessei was last seen scoring a quick first-round knockout over Canada's Cody Jerome last weekend at ONE Fight Night 27.

ONE Fight Night 27: Tang vs. Abullaev on Prime Video was broadcast live from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand last Saturday, Jan. 11. Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action via replay on-demand with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Luke Lessei looking for quick turnaround after ONE Fight Night 27 win: "I came out of that fight untouched"

Luke Lessei wants to return to the ring as soon as possible and build on the momentum he started with a TKO win over Cody Jerome at ONE Fight Night 27 last weekend.

'The Chef' said:

"Yeah, I came out of that fight untouched, so I'm ready to get back in there honestly, ASAP. Yeah, whenever, you know, get another good camp in another, like six to eight-week camp, and then we're good to go, make sure we're dialed in."
