"I always fix it for myself" - Superbon reveals the secret to his success when it comes to rematches

Elite athletes take it upon themselves to review their shortcomings in previous outings. ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon did just that in preparation for his world title rematch with 155-pound Muay Thai king Tawanchai PK Saenchai at ONE 170 on Friday, Jan. 24.

In an interview with combat sports journalist Nick Atkin, the head of Superbon Training Camp leader shared how important it is for him to keep an open mind about such matters — especially when heading into a rematch over 26 pounds of gold:

"Of course. For me, I always learn from my mistakes, and I always fix it for myself, from my weaknesses from my last fight. So every time, I'm gonna do better and better."

Superbon first challenged Tawanchai for the featherweight Muay Thai world championship in December 2023. The PK Saenchai Muay Thai Gym representative ultimately eked out a majority decision win.

After the narrow defeat, the Thai striking icon corrected his mistakes with the help of his coaches. This led to him winning the interim featherweight kickboxing crown over longtime rival Marat Grigorian last April.

Superbon was recently elevated to undisputed status following the departure of then-reigning king Chingiz Allazov. The top-ranked 155-pound Muay Thai competitor then secured the rematch with Tawanchai by knocking out 'Smokin' Jo Nattawut in September.

Superbon hints at different game plan for Tawanchai redo

Superbon believes he and his team have cracked the code about how he can pull off the potentially career-defining upset inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Speaking with ONE, the 34-year-old mentioned:

"The game will change for sure but it's nothing I can explain or announce. It should be kept secret until the big day. And I'm 100 percent sure that the game will totally be different."
