Third-ranked contender 'Pretty Boy' Kwon Won Il has left no room for conversation regarding the next rightful bantamweight world title challenger.

The South Korean competitor has been one of the top fighters in the division for some time but several key losses have set him back.

In the most recent example of this, his three-fight win and finish streak was brought to an end in sudden fashion back in 2022 when he was stopped by Fabricio Andrade in just over a minute.

'Wonder Boy' would go on to become the world champion, and 'Pretty Boy' has been chasing after him ever since.

He has once again racked up an impressive run of wins and finishes to earn a rematch with Andrade at ONE 170 on Jan. 24.

Putting away Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg last time out was the final step on this road to a golden opportunity to avenge his loss to Andrade and claim the coveted ONE bantamweight MMA world championship.

In a recent exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Kwon Won Il was asked about this fight and whether he came into it wanting to make a statement.

He replied that regardless of the opponent or stakes that are attached, he's always looking to get his hand raised without the aid of the judges:

"I always train to finish my opponents. Nothing was different."

Kwon Won Il has to fight smart at ONE 170

Kwon Won Il has proven himself to be a very effective finisher during his time in ONE Championship.

That being said, putting Fabricio Andrade away will be a huge ask considering that the Brazilian is hard to hit in the first place.

'Wonder Boy' is also an excellent fight finisher, as he proved in their first meeting several years ago.

If the challenger is going to leave the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, with the bantamweight gold, he cannot afford to fall into a trap that has been set by the Brazilian.

ONE 170 will be available via watch.onefc.com.
