"I can see her brain" - MMA fighters and fans react as Irene Aldana suffers arguably worst cut in UFC history in Noche UFC loss to Norma Dumont

UFC bantamweight Irene Aldana had a rough day at work on Sept. 14. The Mexican fighter locked horns against Norma Dumont in the prelims of Noche UFC 306 at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada.

During the fight, Aldana suffered a gruesome cut on her forehead. The 36-year-old managed to pull through and make it through the end of the 15-minute bout.

Dumont ended up taking home the victory via unanimous decision. All three judges scored the bout 30-27 in favor of 'The Immortal'. With the victory, the Brazilian extended her win streak to 5-0.

The horrific injury caught the attention of several MMA personalities and fans, who took to social media to share their reactions.

Former UFC interim champion Justin Gaethje contemplated the number of stiches that would be required to treat Aldana's cut.

"Has there ever been a worse cut in the UFC? It looked like 7-9 inches. 50-70 stitches?"

MMA content creator Nina-Marie Daniele commended the Mexican fighter for lasting all three rounds of the bantamweight scrap.

"Irene Aldana is a warrior! Fought all the way to the end! Mexicans are TOUGH! RESPECT!"

One MMA fan weighed in on the damage sustained by Aldana in the fight.

"Broken nose, huge black eye, other eye is swollen too, nose looked broken, cut on the eyebrow. Can't remember seeing damage like this on [one] face."

One individual commented that the fight should have been halted after the 36-year-old sustained the cut.

"That should have been stopped LOL."

Another user claimed that Aldana's brain was visible through the cut.

"I can see her brain."
