Filipino-American striking sensation Jackie Buntan finally seized her dream of becoming a world champion after she unanimously beat Anissa Meksen in their ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title fight last Nov. 8 at ONE 169 in front of the Lumpinee Stadium crowd in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 27-year-old recently spoke with 'The Casuals' for an interview, narrating the emotions when Dom Lau was reading the official scorecards after their five-round championship battle.
According to the inaugural ONE strawweight kickboxing queen, she was confident that the judges had given her the nod. She said:
"I just kind of got restless waiting for the announcement, but I was confident. I think it's truly what it was. I was like, 'Okay, I know I at least had three rounds of five this fight.' So I was like, I knew I won. It was just kind of like, I don't know, surreal, that whole thing."

Jackie Buntan shares her deep and long relationship with Janet Todd, who became her inspiration
The Boxing Works representative also narrated her strong relationship with Janet Todd during the same interview with 'The Casuals', who she referred to as her inspiration until today.
Furthermore, Buntan also thinks that she and 'JT' have an identical fighting approach. She said:
"I feel like we have a very similar style, but different in competition. I feel like, but we've been training for a long time. I started training with Janet when I was maybe, like, 14, so like, way, way, way back. She's still my inspiration to this day. She's the hardest worker I know."
Todd, who recently retired from competition, was a former ONE atomweight kickboxing and interim atomweight Muay Thai world champion.
