Joe Rogan recently made an eye-opening revelation about his political allegiance, despite his backing and endorsement of Donald Trump for the U.S. presidential election last year.
Rogan and Trump made headlines in Oct. 2024 when the 78-year-old appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) ahead of the election. Following their chat, which went viral, the UFC commentator confirmed he was backing the Republican candidate.
At the time, Rogan's endorsement was seen as a major coup for Trump, as he had been seeking votes from the young, male demographic, which is a majority of Rogan's following and listenership.

However, according to Rogan, he doesn't see himself as a Republican. During episode #2261 of JRE, Rogan welcomed Warren Smith, a teacher and critical thinker, to his show. The pair discussed many topics, including the current U.S. political landscape, where Rogan then made a surprising revelation.
According to the 57-year-old, despite his backing and endorsement of Trump, he still doesn't put himself in the category of being a Republican as he believes allegiances cause major limitations in politics. He explained:
"It doesn't make sense to be on a team, it doesn't make sense at all. Even for someone like me... I went to the inauguration, it was bizarre. I don't consider myself a Republican. I don't consider Democrat either. I consider myself an American... The idea I have to ignore things that make sense to me because it's coming from the wrong team is just stupid. These are bad faith arguments... That to me is just dumb, it doesn't benefit me at all. It doesn't benefit anybody... It's so limiting."

Joe Rogan reacts to Islam Makhachev's victory at UFC 311
Joe Rogan has heaped praise on Islam Makhachev and his performance at UFC 311, which saw the Dagestani dispatch of short-notice challenger Renato Moicano with ease.
Makhachev was initially set to make his fourth lightweight title defense against Arman Tsarukyan. However, a day before the event, Tsarukyan pulled out of the fight due to injury. Moicano then stepped up in his place but could not pull off the upset. The Brazilian was submitted via a D'Arce choke by Makhachev in the first round.
Following Makhachev's win, Rogan shared his thoughts on the victory during his post-fight analysis on ESPN MMA's YouTube channel. He said:
''He is just sensational. I mean, the kind of pressure that’s on a champion to come in and take a fight against an unheralded challenger, a guy who’s not supposed to win, a guy who’s very dangerous and has nothing to lose. Moicano was playing with house money. And to perform that way and just immediately sink up a submission on a Brazilian jiujitsu black belt to the ground [is incredible].''
