Second-ranked ONE Championship women's interim atomweight MMA contender 'The Menace' Denice Zamboanga of the Philippines has been on the cusp of a shot at the coveted gold for the last five years.
The first time the Filipina was promised a world title shot was following her unanimous decision victory over former title challenger Mei Yamaguchi in February of 2020.
A series of unfortunate events and setbacks have derailed her opportunity at the belt. But now, Zamboanga is finally ready to step inside the ring for a shot at immortality.
Speaking to veteran MMA reporter Nick Atkin in a recent interview, Zamboanga says she is at peace with all the delays and counts it as a blessing in disguise.
