“I dreamed of things like this” - Nico Carrillo thankful for opportunity to lead the charge for Scotland in ONE Championship

Nico Carrillo still can't believe he is in the position that he's in. The 26-year-old Deachkalek Muay Thai Academy product can count himself among the very best strikers on the planet who all compete in ONE Championship, the world's largest martial arts organization.

'King of the North' is proud to represent not only himself but his entire country on the global stage. Speaking to Sky Sports in a recent interview, Carrillo talked about the prestigious opportunity he has in ONE.

'King of the North' said:

"Not even for Britain and the country and for me as well. From what I came from to what I’ve achieved or where I am now. I dreamed of things like this to actually be here doing it now. Because it could have been maybe [Jonathan] Haggerty for the belt or it could have been somebody else."

Carrillo is getting ready for his first opportunity for ONE Championship gold after stringing together four scintillating knockout victories in the Circle. Needless to say, Carrillo is widely considered one of the most exciting fighters on the planet.

The two lock horns at ONE 170: Tawanchai vs. Superbon, which broadcasts live in Asia primetime from the state-of-the-art Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025.
